SoulMuppet Publishing catalogue

Client: SoulMuppet Publishing

Brief: “a catalogue meant for retailers, instead of a spreadsheet, to showcase product lines, with a clean layout that focuses on the books”

Deliverables and scope: layout of a catalogue of the client’s existing 18 products for printing, and a template for sell sheets

There were two major challenges I encountered while designing this catalogue. The first one was designing the individual sheets as a template that could be reused for future products. The second was highlighting the books’ varied aesthetics within that fixed look. The solution to both challenges ended up being a set of two grids, one for the copy and one for the images. The former has a simple 2-column structure, where all the text is placed on a baseline grid while the latter has a 5-column structure which made it easier to accommodate the various image sizes but also allowed me to create a hierarchy between them. I also used signposting elements to include the brand colour and give the catalogue some discreet flair.
